The 2006 US F5D TEAM has been finalized. The team selection took place Labor Day weekend in Toledo , Ohio . After a ten round elimination the top three pilots and an alternate will now represent the US in Pitesti, Romania in the middle of August 2006. The F5D World Championships has been going on every two years since 1986. Every year the event gets larger and larger. The F5D event is pylon racing with an electric powered model airplane. The models are flown on a triangular course where after ten laps the overall distance is close to two and a half miles, and can be completed in a time of around 66 seconds. These battery powered models are going close to 180mph. The 2004 world championships took place in York , England and the German national team finished 1st and took the top three individual spots. The US team finished 2nd and took 5th, 6th and 7th in the individual rankings. And rounding out the top three was the Austrian team. This year we hope to improve our standing. Thank you for your support of the 2006 F5D pylon team. |
